1. QC is for noobs
2. If you want to get your start in fansubbing, most recommend QC as a first position
3. Most people in QC do it just to watch anime a couple days ahead of everyone else, mistakes be damned 
4. QC staff don't get enough credit for what can be drudge work. Also, timers.

Apparently the fourth point is in the minority. I guess this mostly comes from people in those positions who care about what they do.

You'll find the initial three in the rant, but this is the first time I've heard a case against QC because the upstream staff use them as a crutch. Well if you want to toss the crutch to motivate your staff to do a better job in the first place, fine, do whatever. Just don't blame QC for being a crutch when it's everyone else that uses them as such.

If QC isn't meeting expectations, then you fire them and recruit new ones just like any other business would. Or not. It's hilarious that we (fansub groups) try to model the workflow after manufacturing/software processes and then cry about it. Maybe try hiring like a company before pretending to be one?

By the way, there are bigger problems than QC, which no amount of crutch burning is going to fix.
